Ronald Wiiliam English / BIO

Artist, designer, creator

Hi this is Ron English, owner of East Three Grafix in Inuvik, Northwest Territories . I had a small business since 1997. I have designed posters, signs, logos and stationary to support regional businesses of delta area. It has been a development of an idea dreamt up in SSHS high school when taking drafting and art, since this was the most successful of the courses taken at the time. Graduating in 1982 and I had taking training in mechanics and oil field skills; my heart returned me to drawing and was fortunately able to work for three year with a architectural company designing houses and buildings like the IDC office. This was the start to working with IBM computers (CPU) and I was lucky to be the first in the north to be watching a autoCAD plotter draw up plans that I drew. I was hired to work in Edmonton as a survey draughtsman; after completing training in surveyor's assistant course, when being laid off with a downturn in Inuvik`s economy. Back in the 90`s I returned to school in Red Deer college to finish Art & Design course; where I was making bronze art (polar bears). I started working on Apple cpu again when the Inuvik Native Band, convinced me to return home, from graphics artist job Grande Prairie to assist in the CPU graphics division of Gwich'in Geographic. When they moved more into being a local band newspaper. I found myself in the right place in the right time to begin Gwich'in Ron E Graphics; the start of my CPU graphics business. I did hand painted signs, stationary and federal park logos it was a great start. Needing skills and funds to further this venture, in the digital world's new environment, I had to shutdown due to the lack of skills that related to running a business and the new internet world. I have being schooled in Banff, Slave lake and Edmonton in various CPU related fields (web, tech and print industries). Stating again in 2000 Ron E Graphics continued and more signs and CPU art were created, but the money in the oil field was attracting me to it. I justified this diversion by buy a plotter and equipment with funds, but I need training in the print industry. Working as a fork lift operator in a print house in Edmonton was a life changing exerience, bringing printers paper and sending out tons of finished product. Returning home in 2009, E-3 Grafix (like a phoenix) was reborn and now I've collected more equipment 2 plotters, scanners, laptops, printers, cameras as well as skills to show that art and graphic design is alive and well in the "Place of People" of the delta (Inuvik). Be my friend on Facebook to see E-3 Grafix to change this part of the world.
